Buying a d7000? Please wait 2 wks.

I'm lusting after the d600. Apparently there will be a auto crop mode so we can uses our DX lenses while we save up for the FX bad boys. Sounds like a nice touch.

All of the FX cameras do this, the only problem is you have to have a high res FX sensor to get a decent DX one. The D700 only gives 5mp DX but the D800 gives 16mpx I believe. So if the D600 is around 24mpx we should see a decent 12mp ish DX mode

Thanks for the advise, was looking at getting a D7000 shortly. Any rumours on what updates the D7100 will carry? Will be be worth the premium over a D7000?

No news it might not be worth the upgrade but you will save some money on the d7000 if you wait for the d7100 announcement.

If it is true, then together with seeing 2 used D7000s appear in classifieds since ordering mine, it'd be a real kick in the bowls

Think I might wait till after photokina just to be sure, I was treating myself for my birthday which isn't till the start of October anyway so I can afford to wait.

The D7000 is only 2 years old so I reckon it's probably got another 12 months or so before it gets replaced.

The D700 is being discontinued as there's far less retailers that stock it now which is a sure sign. Such a shame as the D800 was no replacement for the D700 and if the D600 specs are true neither is it a D700 replacement:shrug:

Wonder how much longer Nikon will carry on with the D300s especially as the entry level D3200 can produce better IQ. At present Nikons line up looks barmy and might look even more confusing after September.

The D7000 is a consumer model like the d3000/d3100 and d5000/d5100 which were both replaced within 2 yrs. The d7000 and d300s may just merge to make a d400 in light of the d600 FF.

The d800 is the d700 replacement surely? A d7100,d400,d600 and d700s all looks a little crowded to me.
