Has anyone had dealings with the likes of Camera Box ,Simply Electronics etc , the same products for sale in Jessops , Warehouse Express etc is quite a bit more expensive ,is it the same quailty for the same product or are the former cheap imports.:nono:

Cheers

Depends what 'products' you're after.

If its general accessories, batteries, cleaners etc etc. I prefer to use Jessops just so I know what I'm buying is genuine before parting with cash.

For lenses and bodies, I either use Kerso on here (Ian Kerr) or Pixmania to make the maximum savings.

Well was looking at Lenses : Canon EF-S 55-250 F4.5-6 IS

Jessops £229
Warehouse Express £209
Pixmania £195 + delivery
Camera Box £160
SimplyElectronics £158
Thats over £70 difference from top to bottom , i'm all for a bargin just don't fancy buying a dud lol

I could be wrong, but i think camerabox and simplyelectronics have some mixed feedback if you look about. Pixmania are fine but it took them a while to accept my card and i find the website useless.

We've had quite a few people on the board reporting issues with Simply Electronics- mainly taking your money and not having the item in stock. Trying to get a refund out of them can be difficult and communication is poor. I'd be very wary. I dunno about Camera Box, but I'd do some Googling before taking a chance.

pixmania were a nightmare - very slow delivery - very poor comms - and they added some sort of loyalty crap onto the sale which I didn't ask for - and then took a couple of months to refund it. Never ever again!

Well seems they both get quite a bit of bad press , probalbly best to stick with the better known names even if funds are tight just doesn't seem to be worth the bother.....

I was a bit concerned about using Simply Electronics but I have bought 2 lenses recently the first was about a week late the second arrived on time.
For the saving I was happy with the result however having now heard about Ian Kerr I will probably give him a go with my next purchase.

Steve there is a whole section of TP dedicated to suppliers etc, all of the ones you mention are covered in there LINK

Pixmania were fine with me but yes that little loyalty card is a git! you have to cancel it in a weird was as the link isnt clear right away. Delivery was on time and they were the best price at the time but i really dont trust the way they handle the payments

I've bought 6 cameras from Camerabox in the last 18 months and they've been fine, they had an out of stock issue with one camera, they put a note in the delivery with the others that it would be week late and one week later it arrived.

Bought an 85mm 1.8 lens from simplyelectronics via amazon. No problems with supplier or lens. I did phone them up with regard to the amazon price being £49 more than there own website. They said it was amazon charges and didn't offer me any cash back. Presumably its safer shopping via amazon? Is it?
