Hi, I am looking at purchasing a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 lens, and I have found what seems like a good price on amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sigma-70-200mm

I am aware that Sigma Imaging currently offer an additional 2 years extension to the standard 1 year warranty. On the Sigma page it says that the lens must be imported by Sigma Imaging to qualify. http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com

I emailed Amazon to ask if the lens supplied by them would qualify and their answer basically said anything but the answer.

Has anybody else bought a Sigma Lens from amazon and then successfully filled in the sigma extended warranty with the details of that lens?

Thanks in advance.

I bought my 70-200 ex from amazon and sigma honoured the extended (3yr) warranty.

Thanks that is what i was hoping to hear.

I bought from Amazon and Sigma wouldn't honour it, it was a German lens.
Basically, Amazon will happily ship from their EU disty.. so be careful. They let me send it straight back, no hassles though.

Strange. I had no problem registering and getting the extended warranty.

Was yours purchased directly from amazon UK themselves or another retailer via amazon?

I did notice they wernt listed on Sigma's website so was quite chuffed when it went through smoothly!

Was yours ordered recently? I'm wondering if they have only recently been adopted by Sigma UK as an authorised seller?

Ordered both a Sigma and a Tokina from Amazon in Jan this year, the Sigma seemed to register fine on the website etc.. but after a few days without recieving any paperwork/email confirmation etc I called Sigma UK. They had all my details, the online form etc but confirmed that the warranty extension wouldn't be honoured as I'd given a Non-UK lens serial.

Complained to Amazon who 'investigated' and confirmed after about 3 days that it had come from Germany. Naughty..

Surely you could demand Amazon sort it for you on your behalf with Sigma? You must have some rights there? If I went through the hassle of managing to get a perfect copy Sigma lens and then went to benefit from the EX 3 year warranty and was told it was non UK I would be livid since that's one of the reasons to pay extra from Amazon UK since it's....err...amazon UK.

That's exactly what I did (Go livid).. Amazon can't 'sort it' with Sigma though, as Sigma UK quite rightly don't have to honour the warranty on a non-UK lens.

"I am sorry to hear that you received the German version of F/2.8 Nikon 70-200 MKII.

I have invsetigated further an unfortunately at the moment the product is only available in German stock. I have raised the issue with the relevant Department"

So basically, if they don't have the UK stock, they just ship from one of their other disty's.

So basically I am just ordering and then hoping they have it from UK stock. Think am prepared to take the gamble as I cant find it any cheaper or near the price, and even then wouldnt know where it had come from untill it arrived!
