I need a little advice on cable releases if you've got the time to spare please?

I've been having a look around and I've found that all the cable releases are too short; I've found this one link which is 2 metres 80cm, but I need something a little longer for what I have in mind. Is there such a thing as an extension cable for a release, as I can't seem to find one?

I thought about remote control, but Infrared you need to be head on to use it (if anybody uses the RC6, how head on do you need to be?) and the radiocontrolled versions tend to be a little out of budget. But remote control would be nice to have instead of cable!

I also own something along the lines of one of these link. Is there any possible way of hooking one of these up to my Canon 450D?

I'm on a bit of a tight budget - around £20 mark - being a student off to uni in september, however would pay a little more if I can buy an extension cable. I'm not looking for anything to flash, just something that will take an instant picture with no 2 second delay!

Any help or advice would massively appreciated! Thanks for reading! :)

You can get wireless (radio) shutter remotes off ebay for about £10. The one I have works perfectly.
 
Thanks for that Andrew, but I'd prefer to be able to buy in shop so I can have a look first.
 
As you can see from the illustration in this ad, the Hahnel wired remotes are 80cm long with a 2m extension cable included.
AFAIK, those extensions are just straight through male-female, and if you connect two or more of them together, you can have a 4m or longer lead.

BTW, Jessops have an offer on them ATM, you can go and have a look if there's one local to you (and maybe buy two?)

Thanks for that. I had seen the sale in jessops. I may possibly buy two. Thanks for the pointers :thumbs:
