Ok, I know what the vast consensus is going to be off the bat, but nethertheless my curiosity has gotten the better of me.
I've a Sigma 70-300 DG that seems to be soft on the right.. examples from RIAT:
(LARGE)
and more obviously on:
(LARGE)
Now, I'm not adverse to being told this is simply user-error, but it seems to be present in most of my pictures from that lens.
Does anyone know how calibration on these lenses is achieved, I'm pretty much resigned to sending it off for calibration if it's a lens error, but why miss the opportunity to learn more about how these things work?
I've heard that canon lenses are a combination of hardware/software tweaks that canon guard very closely. I've also heard that Sigma lenses have a much simpler, completely hardware based adjustment (some even say it's merely shims under the lens mount).
I'd be very greatful for any input from you masterful gurus at TP can give!
