Calling Canon 18-200mm Users

A collegue at work has this lens and believes that when he got it (only a few weeks ago), that the zoom lock worked regardless of the zoom level. He has notices that it now only locks at 18mm.

Is he mistaken and is it a transport lock and so only works at 18mm - or has the lock broken in some way?

I had one of these lenses...It only locks at 18mm. So god knows how it locked at any length?!

Agree, only locks at 18mm to stop it extending whilst being carried around.
