Might be a chance i will be filming the school play this year, via mini dv tapes

Looking at some older films 20 minutes of filming is close to 4.5gb, the play is going to run for just over an hour. What would be the best approach to get it all on one dvd (is this possible?) without compromising quality?

That will be the raw footage you are looking at, to burn to a DVD disk that is capable of playing in a DVD player, you will need to encode the finished product to mpeg2, which will compress it to fit into 4.3gb depending on your compression settings.

Spot on reply Pete! Was just typing too!
Dont forget to run through all your import settings and make sure they are PAL & correct intended screen format.
You will need an editing program such as Adobe Premier, Final Cut (Mac) and also a program to create your DVD menus and burn the discs.
