camera and lens knocked over! Oh No!!!!!

Can't believe what i've just done.
Sat on a swivel chair and knocked over my 1D Mk II with 70-200f2.8 IS II L attached to my tripod!
Tripod was on lowest setting but still fell 2ft onto the floor (on a thick rug)
turned on the camera but the focus is way out...GUTTED.
I'm assuming it'll be the lens, but too dark to try it on my 5D now, have to check tomorrow.
Anyone know contact details of Canon UK (searched last week for another reason), as i had trouble finding them.
Rather the lens went to Canon to sort it out, and would it be a good thing to send the body too?
Have accidental damage cover on my home insurance, so praying it'll cover it, only just claimed on it for a water damaged laptop!!!
I'm sure asking what it'll cost is like asking how long a piece of string is, but anyone else had a similar 'blond moment'?

Indeed. Canon offer fixed price service/repairs on some lenses, but the 70-200 IS II isn't one of them. In my experience (I spend about £1000 per month on repairs) impact damage generally isn't cheap and can be horrendously expensive. We recently had a customer drop a Nikon 600mm, and the repair bill is £3300! But for your lens, I'd guesstimate it could be between £300 and £500. So it's certainly worth considering an insurance claim.

No reason why it wouldn't be covered by your insurance if you have accidental damage cover, but beware of the possible impact on your renewal for two claims in a short space of time.

If, however, you have been with an insurer for a long time, and if it is a high net worth policy, then they may be more flexible (i.e. understanding).

just tried the lens on my 5D3 inside at a picture around 3m away, and it looks fine!
I'll be taking both bodies and lens with me to work, tripod too, and will test more extensively.
What an eedjit i am!(for knocking it over!)

Tripod mounted via the 70-200 f2.8, and identicle set ups.
I also downloaded Saturdays match photos which were taken before the fall, and they are worse than ever, virtually all showing significant back focus.
I'm now thinking the fall has had no effect on the body, and i've only noticed as i've only ever used the 1D for sports, never for static shots!
I'm at a loss now about what avenue would be the way to proceed!
First and most important, i don't want to lose the body, i just want it functioning like it should! it's only a few weeks old and bought from a well known online shop. I had already emailed them over a week ago as i was suspicious about focus issues.
Would they have to put it right if it was sold in this condition?
I did ask them if the warranty would cover this, either all the cost, some of it, or none, but their reply didn't answer this particular question, just that the 1D had lots of complex settings and try resetting it (which i did).
In a way i'd actually rather the damage was done by the fall as it would simply be an insurance job!

At least the lens is fine. I would not be happy with body that has issues (we presume not because of the latest flight) and would make sure this is rectified. Good old resellers and another reason not to use them (all)

I've bought and sold from the second hand company many times and never had an issue up till now.
Emailed them, just hope it can be sorted amicably!
