Camera bag and Tripod advice

Right, as you know i have my 50D but at the moment i am keeping it in my old 450D 'Y' shaped bag. It is very tight for it in there with the 50mm attached!!

I need a new bag. Thing is, i hate all these big heavy bags. I need something that will carry the camera, the 50mm, maybe a 17-50mm, flash, charger and some CF cards. I don't need a massive bag.

Also looking for a cheap tripod but a sturdy one that can accomodate my height (6ft 2) and is also able to get down to ground level!

Anyone got any ideas?

Are they specifi camera bags? Any links please?
 
Crumpler are good, mine is a Pretty Boy XXL and can take a 40D with 17-55mm attached with room for another lens albeit a smallish one

Not being rude here, but do you have health issues as I saw your thread saying the camera was too heavy and now you want a light bag, only asking because you will presumably want a light tripod too, if so it will be costly to get sturdy into the bargain
 
Yea, light it has to be. Shoulder bag would be fine. I do suffer from back trouble too so got to take that into consideration. I could keep the tripod in the car i guess until i need it. Not planning on using a tripod all the time. Monopod might be nice but unsure.
 
The lowepro nova 1 aw is quite neat. It's a light bag. Takes a body with lens on and usually 2 other lenses. Think you'd need the next size up for a flash gun though as I couldn't find anywhere my jessops one would fit comfortably.

I know you wanted a shoulder bag but I reckon a rucksack would end up much more comfortable as you still have the option to carry them on the one shoulder. The tamrac adventure 8 one I have is really light and will carry body, several lenses, flashes, cards, triggers, lunch and a few other odds and ends. I don't like rucksacks and wanted a shoulder bag but usually I end up taking the tamrac not the little lowepro.

How low to the ground do you want with out actually having the camera sitting on the ground...

There is the Manfrotto 190 or 055 series or there is Giotto & Redsnapper (both cheaper than Manfrotto)... Not sure on how low RS go to the ground thou...

I have the Giottos MTL9531B which does virtually the same as the Manfrotto but doesnt go as low down but then again you could always turn the centre columm the other way around thou..... I got mine from warehouse express mtl9351B and was a lot cheaper than the Manfrotto versions...
 
Not sure. Just enough to take pics at low level. Don't want to spend a lot but would like a decent tripod. Also need a Flash, been told the Jessops AFD360 is good? A spare battery would be good too and a cable remote. List of wants:

17-50 2.8 Tamron lens
Flash
Tripod
Spare battery
Cable remote
Camera bag

Now, how to persuade the wife these are must have items :thinking:
