i am doing more raw now so my 2 1Gb Xd cards may not be up to the storage i require in a real days shooting
my olympus e-420 takes also compact flash type I and II

what is the advice on using that etc...i know it cost more but handles far greater

thanks in advance

I would use CF cards as they tend to be cheaper per Mb, but you would need to check the max size you can use.

I'm up to 2x 8Gb in the D3 bodies now and 2x 16Gb in the D3X - like the man says; check for maximum storage sizes for your camera...

thanks both...i think 4Gb will suit as i use a mix of raw and jpeg...
but i have the specs handy so i will check the max as you advise

Another vote for SanDisk as the brand and 7day as the supplier.

Updating firmware? RTM to find out how (or the instructions on the site where the update is published. That site should also point out what issues the new firmware addresses.)

Sandisk, Lexar and Transcend are all of an equal standard, pays your money and takes your choice.

I personally would say go for bigger cards, if in time you upgrade your camera you'll find as I have the smaller cards become more or less obsolete. I thought 2 and 4GB cards were great for my 30D, but they are just too small for the 1D, and my 1GB cards are just taking up kit bag space now.

i am actually thinking along those lines as we...cyber speak..if there are some good deals i may just also get some 4Gb bundle for holiday use where i take a lot of pics...to my standard anyway...around 600 in a fortnight counting hotel room deletes...

...I'm getting a sense of deja-vu here ...
Our Sandisc 4gig CF cards are great in my e-410, but I had errors with 8gig lexar.

thanks..i am now thinking the Xd since they are still around are fast enough for me and i have a little case which takes 8..so a couple of 2Gb might be sufficient
