Camera case for Canon 450d and 17-55mm lens?

I can only just squeeze my Canon 450d with Tamron 17-50mm VC into my current case.
When I get the bigger Canon 17-55mm lens, it's not going to fit so i'll need a new one.
Has anyone got any recommendations (the cheaper the better).

What are you looking for - bag, backpack, single body / lens case ?

An idea of budget also helps...

I've one of the Lowepro Nova bags and can get lots in and am very pleased with it...

My current case is a Hama and looks a bit like this:

I'm looking for a single body + lens case.

Budget - Under £50 if possible.
 
I know it's a bit different to what you have/want but amazon do a great backpack for less than £25, I've been using one for 6 months and it's great! Space for what you have and more, laptop, iPad etc or stacks of camera bits and bobs.
 
Do you want another holster style bag for just the camera with single lens attached (i.e. the same as what you already have but to fit your new camera/lens combination) or are you after something different (maybe a shoulder bag that'll hold some accesories such as spare batteries, filters)?

I only have a 450d, soon to be Canon 17-55mm and a Canon 430EX ii Flash. I never take the flash out of the house but it would be nice to have the option of taking it.

I've been looking at this:

Lowepro

I've seen them for about £60. Cheaper would be nice but I wouldn't want to scrimp on quality.

I may consider a shoulder bag but i'd rather it was quite small.
 
Well I reckon that holster type bags are generally smaller than shoulder bags are generally smaller than backpacks, so if you want to keep it small and your current holster bag isn't big enough, then you're looking at either a bigger holster/beltpack or a small shoulder bag. Some of the holster cases have quite roomy front pockets and some (e.g. some Lowepro toploaders) will allow the attachment of pouches as a 'modular' solution.

From what you have said, that Lowepro Sling that you have linked to looks like just the job. Lowepro do make small shoulder bags that are cheaper - this Lowepro Nova 160 AW is nicely priced - and the Nova bag is recommended by Andy above :).
 
I don't want to start sounding like an advert but the Nova 160 is the second smallest in a range of six bags - there are other sizes.

The Tamron you have is 8.2 cm long (according to Amazon) and there are some reviews on Amazon for the Nova 160 from folk saying that it fits their camera with 18-135mm attached - which (according to Amazon) is 10.1 cm long. Another review says " takes the Canon 550D camera with either the 18-55mm or 55-250mm lenses fitted directly onto the camera body".

The Lowepro website says
1 DSLR with lens attached (18-55mm or 17-85mm f/3.5-5.6) plus 1-2 additional lenses; 2 memory cards and a flash unit
Size(Interior):
7.9W X 4.3D X 6.7H in./
20 X 11 X 17 cm​

Measure your kit and look at the internal measurements and reviews online. To get a better idea of size of ANY bag that you're considering, if you can't get to a shop and see one in the flesh, try doing a google video search - here's some Nova 160 videos

I have a toploader zoom 2 (old model) which I sometimes use with a shoulder-strap, sometimes on a S+F belt with a couple of lens pouches (one of which houses my flash).

I did measure the camera for the Nona 160 and it was 10mm bigger than the internal measurement, so would probably fit, but it would be a tight squeeze. Or it could fit sideways I suppose.

I quite like the thought of a sling-bag but £60 seems pretty expensive to me. I'm not in a hurry so i'll carry on looking for a while...

Hi

The Nova range are very good bags and there are various different sizes available, so don't rule one out ...

The toploader range are very good, I've one and it is useful for a cover for the body + lens, but is limited for additional storage. For £28 though you can't really go wrong and from a personal choice, I'd opt for quality over price - after all you need protection around the camera.

I've not had any experience of the case logic ones, so unable to help you on those. If you want any measurements etc from my case, let me know.
