Camera Clubs - AV Competitions

[staffitaxi]

We've got this years AV competition coming up later this month and i just wondered if this was a common feature in club competitions or not.

I always find it quite a difficult thing to do and the time it takes to put one together is incredible, never mind the number of photos.

Just wondered if anyone else has done one for a club comp.

Hi. Ive seen lots but no-one in my club is into AV yet. Heck, most of them still yesrn for slides!

Thanks for the reply. I guess from the lack of other replies our small village club is bucking the trend with technology LOL.
I say small we have going on 40 members who are all regular attenders which is pretty good for a rural area.

I think avs can be good but you need a heck of a lot of images, some software and voiceover or music. For most who still struggle with basic cropping its a step too far!

We have one every year, I won it a couple of years back, although to be fair, the other entries were rubbish. Mind you mine did take weeks to put together, choosing the photos, choosing the music, arranging the photos into order, etc.

Good av is an art in itself, some very good av specialists on the club scene, but it is very time consuming to do well.

There are quite a few at our club who are very much into AVs so there are a couple of internal competitions each year and on external one.

I've had a couple of attempts but it is quite time consuming if you want to compete. Some of them are like TV documentaries!

Our club has about 60 members, but only one person seems to be doing AV sequences at the moment. Sometimes it is difficult to get any themed competitions off the ground, and AV would be a non-starter.
