Afternoon folks,

Im getting my first dSLR on Tuesday a Canon 400D + EF 50 f/1.8 and I'll be picking up a 70-200mm lens in the next fortnight.

I need some help in picking a tripod

I have had a look at quite a few sites over the past couple of days and I can't make my mind up on what tripod to pick up.

I was recommended a RS-283 & RHS-12 Ball Head from Redsnapper by a friend.

I was just wondering is there any better alternatives for a beginner or will this setup last me a while?

Any advice is welcome!

I think the Redsnapper tripods are the fan's favourite on this forum. They are very, very popular and the consensus view is that they can't be beaten for the money and, unless you're going to spend hundreds on a Giotta or the like, the Redsnapper is the dog's!

Hi and welcome. Which 70-200 are you getting? The canon 70-200 IS will not mount on some tripod heads withouth being removed from the body first or spinning the tripod ring around a bit. So may be worth popping into your local London Camera Exchange or equivilent to have a play.

Great stuff, I had my trigger finger over "checkout" last night on redsnapper so it seems the itch will be over soon.

Thanks for the info
