Camera Flashes

I currently has a 600D and am trying to find a flash for it, I'm a little confused on the terminology.

Ideally I want to use wireless flash, I have seen YN-568EXs on ebay, which appear to be compatible as slaves, does this mean the flash will work out of the box wirelessly with my 600D? Or will I need a transmitter as well?

Thanks.

I use a yungnou 568 on my 60D and it works fantastic. It be be a great match for your 600D. The only thing it won't do is commander mode but will fire off camera with your popup flash triggering it, if you don't want popup flash either shut the power down very low on poput flash or buy a yungnuo 622 trigger.

You can set the popup flash to fire but not impact the exposure - so it will remotely fire the 568 but not have an impact on your shot

how does it compare to the speedlite 430ex?

It's only £80 or so more expensive and will probably have better resale.

That's what I said turn the wer down on poput flash .

It's better than the 430 it compares directly with the 580 except for commander mode only and build quality is also as good the slightly cheaper yungnuo 500 is the one that competes with the EX 430 ¥

Or get a yongnuo 560 III flash that has an inbuilt wireless receiver and buy a set of wireless triggers like the yongnuo rf603's, this way you can trigger the flash without using the popup flash and use the triggers as a shutter release off camera if you wanted, just to note that the 560 III is a manual flash unit with no ttl support if that is important, which usually isn't when going off camera.

The 580. Has wireless built in and the 603,s have been superceded by the 622 such are far better please ead all comments as its already been mentioned. Also the 568 and the 500 both support HHS flash

But you can actually turn the power off (so it still flashes, but doesn't impact exposure) - if you just turn it down it will still impact the exposure (although only slightly)
