Camera / Gear for Documentary Photography?

as the title asks
looking for some info on what body/lens/etc are good for documemntary photography (ie, photojournalism, travel, street)

be realistic with prices :nono: probs looking at a max. of £800-900
doesnt have to be a canon

agreed, however, a 55-250mm I.S. + a second 1000d to put it on might be a good investment if your looking to spend some cash/ be more flexible with shooting

Yeah really a 50mm is all you need, for a bit of variation you could get a cheap 35mm and 85mm to get and wider and longer view if needed.

I'd rather a 24-70 than three primes.

Its my main interest and for the first 6 months of the year I did all my doc stuff on my 50mm 1.8. I did find the focal length restricting so now have the Sigma 24-70 2.8.

It all depends on the look your going for, I've seen amazing docs taken on a disposable camera. Its all about content.
