Hi Guys

i was looking for a new camera, i'm pretty new to photography, but i play alot of sport and i am currently doing a website for my local cricket club, and i like to take pictures of the games to put on thw website, but i have been looking at a couple of camera's but i was hoping for a bit of help as i'm not really up with Dslr's as i have a Samsung wb750, the two camera's that i have found that i think are ok but would like some more help from you guys on what you think of theses camera's also are they a good price etc here is the first one

Hope someone could fill me in a bit more about theses camera's and if they are worth having etc, as i take pictures of cricket motor sport and loads of the landscape.

Anyway I dont know what the second url points to but as for the 500D ? Well I have one as my second body and I have a tendency to use it day to day more than I do my heavier 50D. I love it, its easy to use and produces great images. However can I suggest you buy it as a kit with the 18-55is and the 55-250is Zoom not the 70-300. The 55-250is has image stabilisation and is a more modern design than the aging 70-300. Probably lighter too. Its an absolute bargain of a lens and the image quality it produces for the money is astonishing. Apart from anything else it is the perfect stablemate for the 18-55is and a perfect start up outfit I would recommend to anyone.

Just dont buy it at Jessops they want £230 for the 55-250is:eek:

Hi Thank u, yeh that is the one i ment as it has 2 lens with the camera its the Canon eos 500d, the camerabox i wont be buyin from as ive heard that info already it was just the camera i wonted info on and to c if it was worth having but the camerabox camera is the Canon eos 550d and that also has 2 lens, could someone narrow it down out of the 2 camera's i have sed which one is the better one to get as i'm a newbie to dslr's lol

Yeh thats cool, so really that bundle that jessops are doing isnt really worth having, the other url went to the Canon eos 550d. just wondering would you say it would be more worth it if i brought the lens you sed from here on amazon

From the looks of things you really are just beginning here so I don't think the 550D would offer you any advantages at such an early stage in the hobby and by the time you get much better and more knowledgeable the 550D will cost peanuts and you would probably want something better anyway by then. The jump from 500 to 550 isn't a huge leap for a novice since you probably wouldn't take advantage of the added features anyway.

Buy what you can afford and don't go nuts then spend the ensuing months learning and reading and learning again. Make lots of mistakes :thumbs: (we all do) and learn from them but above all have fun.

Yeh okey dokey pal, yeh and i will prb make loads of mistakes as i usually do lol, the only reason i sed about the 550d is for the fact on most websites like amazon and tht the 550d is only about £45 more than the 500d but not to worry, ill try and get the 500d and the lens you recommended hopefully i will get it in the next couple of weeks and ill start to take pictures, is there anything else u would recommened before i buy a camera or is there anything else you would say i need to start of with like lens filters etc

If the 550 is only 45 more just get it. (no brainer really)
Don't worry about filters or anything like that at the moment, just use the camera and these forums to hone your skills. These forums are full of very knowledgeable and helpful members and they are a valuable FREE resource. Use them.

Yeh not a problem pal, would that lens u recommend fit the 550d is well, Yeh i am on a car forum is well and u guys on theses forums are pretty amazin and so helpful cheers
 
All Canon/Sigma/Tamron etc lenses with the EF and EF-s designation fit the Canon bodies with APS-c sensors. EF-s work with APS-c sensor cameras only but that's another lesson right there :thinking: so forget about that just now and rest assured that the lenses will all fit on a 500D or 550D
 
haha yeh deffo, well ill hopefully get a camera maybe this week still not sure where to get a camera from and what bundles to get haha, would anyone say bout buyin from ebay just wondering incase i c any bargins lol
