Hey, I'm 16 year's of age and I like photography a lot, I used to enter competitions at a local club and want to take pictures for personal use and competitions at a local club. My grandad is a professional photographer but I don't get to speak to him a lot. Just thought I'd ask a query I have about camera's. I don't want to spend over £200 and I would like a camera which is extremely good value for money with a screen, good lens etc etc.. So any information, links to websites would be very much appreciated!
I would like it to be like http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/canon-rebel-xt-1-1.jpg that shape :) sorry, I don't know alll my camera talk :)
I would also like to be able to buy different lenses for it if I ever needed.. I beleive thats called SLR? or I might be wrong :D lol.
Thanks

Welcome to the site Toby.

You will be wanting a Digital SLR (DSLR)

With your £200 budget you will be looking to try find a second hand one.

You may be able to find one with a kit zoom lens that you could upgrade lenses as time goes on.

Have a word with your Grandad too

Have a good look around

Hi Toby - Welcome to to the forum.

I recently sold a Nikon D50 DSLR with a kit lens for about your £200 budget. Something along those lines would be a good start. Canon 300D or 350D or Nikon D40 might be worth looking for.

It's important to try and get your hands on a camera to see how it feels in your hands but that's not always easy unless you're buying a current model available in the high street.

There are obviously lots of models which you could consider but you could do a lot worse than look at what is available in the for sale forum here. Depending on where you live you may be lucky enough to find somebody here selling something along those lines who you could perhaps meet and 'try before you buy'.

Speak to your Grandad and you say you're in contact with your local club - you may be able to pick some brains there and see what others have ?
