Camera lenses

Hi All,

I'm quite new to slr photography. I've had my Nikon D5000 for about a month and a half now and would like to move to a better lens other than what comes with the camera. How do I go about choosing a good overall lens? once again i'm a beginner.

what's wrong with the lens that's supplied with the camera. if you are a beginner its really unlikley that buying more gear will help you improve your photography. Learning to use what you have properly, will firstly have you taking better photographs and secondly inform you exactly what inadequacies your equipment has. Untill you can hand on heart say because of XXX i cant do YYY keep your money and invest in learning

Have you hit some limitations with what the kit lens supplied can provide you with?

Are you shooting in dark venues or need something longer or wider perhaps?
