Camera purchase

Hello

I am a beginner in photography and want to buy my first slr camera. Was thinking of a Nikon D80 or D300. Please advise me on the way forward and a rough estimate of how much I will have to part with, and any advise is most welcome.

Can't help you on the 2 models you've chosen unfortuantely (I'm a Canon bod) but here http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/cat5.html will give you a few ideas on prices.

Starting out, I can recommend the Nikon D90 or the Nikon D5000.

Have a think about what you want from the camera and how much you want to spend, that will influence your camera choice.

Also, very importantly, go to a local shop and physically handle the camera, or camera's, you are considering. You need to be sure that any camera you buy "feels" good to you.

Also consider, in your budget, other items you may want to buy, e.g. camera bag, filters, spare battery, memory cards, etc.
