Camera Refresh - Jump to e-Mount?

Hi, currently have 5D, 85mm f1.8, 70-200 f2.8, and a Tamron 28-70 2.8.

My issues are: it's often too big, high-ISO performance is too noisy, I need to buy a flash still.

100D had caught my eye but then yesterday I had a play with a Sony Nex camera with it's standard 18-55mm F5.6 lens. TBH it blew the 5D out the water for low-light performance without a flash, even vs the 85mm 1.8.

Now obviously it has its compromised - clunky user interface most noteably, but the wifi thing is a great convenience factor.

Hence, looking for opinions. Are these small format factor, large(ish) sensor cameras ready for prime time yet? Or worth waiting another year or two and hoping they all move over to Android to power them perhaps? Is E-Mount looking promising?

Thanks for any and all opinions or thoughts! ATM I'd really thinking of downsizing the camera bag so I'm more likely to take it out (lazy, I realise, but I guess that's just recognition of who I am).
 
you can adapt pretty much anything to e mount, theres a new slr style emount entry level camera out soon too ilc 3000

i think you just lose focus speed vs slr, some of the buttons, and maybe some flash functionality. (depends on the model)
the image quality is superb on them :)
 
What sort of photography do you do?

Can't really offer advice until we know that...

Richard, it's just general family stuff really, I struggle when inside, especially for example wedding receptions. Don't want to be having a flash going off everywhere so take the 85mm 1.8 usually, but topping out at 1600 ISO the 5D doesn't feel fast enough and the results aren't brilliant either. A friend turned up with a new Sony mini thingie and it seemed to be doing much better, though the sensor noise charts show it should be slightly behind my 5D - so I guess there is some fairly aggressive noise reduction going on in there.

I just noticed the 6D is pretty much a whole stop faster than the original 5D, so maybe that's the answer. Obviously it's no smaller, but then I could get the old 50mm 1.4 on it I suppose - and it has wifi and gps...
 
I've got a Nex-5n and i use it when taking my D600 isn't practical or allowed :0(
Great little camera, I've the kit 18-55mm, 16mm pancake, 18-200mm.
I rarely use the 18-200mm as it's huge compared to the camera and throws the balance.
Image quality is very good and handle low light well, but i'm limited with the lenses.
Was thinking of upgrading to the Nex-6 as i find a EVF a help, but as stated above a new refresh of the range is imminent.
