On the off chance...

Does anyone know of a independent Panasonic camera repairer

I have a Panasonic DMC FX8 camera I bought a couple years ago, hardly used maybe took a 100 photos when it broke. The lens gets stuck and will not focus, I have contacted Panasonic who quote a flat fee off £100 to repair, so do Jessops and the repairers I contacted from Google search have referred me back to Panasonic

I should have thought that £100 was a pretty standard price for this sort of work. You won't get much cheaper, if at all. And that's confirmed by your own research.

You could try Colchester CRS - I've used them with no probs, although that's not a universal view

or Lehmanns - who do get good reviews, although they quoted me stupid (ie lots of) money to clean my 30D.

The work to repair the sort of damage to which you refer sounds pretty detailed and technical - its not just a case of opening the back and shaking it around a bit.

Sorry

:-(

Yes I think your right and its not worth spending £100 to repairing it

I'll have to take a holiday to India they'll repair anything their

Strip it down and have a go yourself, then spend the £100 on a new one if you can't fix it.
