Yes
pretty much as the title suggests, im trying to find a rucksack that will offer my camera protection if i take a tumble off my bike, i go some pretty cool places on my bike and im to scared to take my camera in my current bag.

all advice appreciated

uber protection would be a small peli in a normal bag

how much kit are we talking and do you want anything else in there, and what kind of mountain biking as in is it the nuts kind where you will probably die anyway

i used to have a specialist snowboard/camera bag... very good protection... cant remember the name, il look it up, i imagine it would be good for bikes...

did it have much in way of storage for other kit?

what id like is a day sack sized bag with a protected camera comparment

Dakine! that was it... great strong backpacks

Yep they do a couple of nice photo bags, Burton also do one.

As for what you are looking for there are really only two choices I've ever found:

http://fstopgear.com/ Expensive and you'll have to import or

Buy a decent cycling bag and protect your lenses inside with some home made system (what I do at the moment).

There seems to be a distinct lack of bags designed with both the walker/cyclist and photographer in mind, all the others either have no space or a piddly bit you could store either a jacket or your lunch, not both...:gag:

I don't know if it helps but I use a Lowepro Flipside 400AW a lot while out cycling, it may not have tons of padding but I've taken a few falls including a couple over the bars and a corner wash out and my camera gear has always been fine, it's more of a camera bag than a day sack but it's a good fit and the back opening is a godsend when it's raining and you have the waterproof cover on. Worth a look anyway.
