Hey guys where would anyone recommend to get your camera sensor cleaned? which companies?

First of all, DEFINITELY get a blower and try that yourself, it's easy and most of the time it's all that's required. You won't damage anything, the sensor is well protected and not half as delicate as people seem to think. If the blower method doesn't work after a few goes, then try a more vigorous approach with others will be able to advice upon; I have never had to go down this route.

Hey guys.

What dirt are we talking about?

Try a blower first, and if that doesn't work:

A few dust bunnies can be dealt with at home with some of flash in the pans sensor swabs. They are superb and work on static to get the dust away from your sensor. I have only needed deeper cleaning once - and that was after an off road event I was covering and got completely caked in dust.

Swabs will clear that up no problem. Just use the following smoothtips:

  • Buy yourself a couple of packets - you don't want to be left short of getting the job done, and you can always save the extra for next time
  • Allocate yourself an hour to get the job done properly; definitely not a job to be inpatient with.
  • Only use each side of each swab once; sweeping in different directions.
  • Get the camera tethered whilst cleaning so you can see instant results on screen after each swipe
  • May be teaching to suck eggs- find a room that is the least dusty in your home. When taking lens off/on make sure you keep camera pointing downward to limit more dust getting in.
  • When clean, prepare thyself a large glass of wine, enjoy, and smile in the satisfaction that you have slaughtered the dust bunnies.

Looks like this, and available from Jessops and other high street retailers. Don't let them sell you an expensive kit you probably won't need.
