Camera servicing/repair?

Hey, So i took my camera along with three lenses i wanted to get checked out, to my local camera dealer (who are not Jessops). I wanted to see if they could suss out if my lenses have gone soft or was it a body issue.

After about an hour of testing lenses on different bodies and playing around with settings, The man said it was more likely a body problem and i should try and get Nikon or someone who can check over the body and do a service.

Ive got in touch with Nikon and they are happy to check the body and will be able to give a quote etc.
On the phone i got told it can take up to 6 weeks to get the body back and as its a reported focus issue it might cost up to about £800!!!! :bang:

So does anyone know a reputable company that can check the camera out and perform any procedures?

Thats a bit steep i think. Try AJ Johnstone, Fixation and Lehmanns to see what they say.
 
i had to recently put my d300 in for repair i used aj johnstone in glasgow
took 2 weeks . camera all repaired now not expensive very friendly knowlegable staff highly reccomended.
they can give you an estimate on the phone for any repair / service

There is an official Nikon Repair Centre in Stoke on Trent.
Not Sure of the name but if you google it you will find them!
They do warranty repairs for Nikon but if you contact them direct they will service/repair!

Have to say my experience was far less favourable, I've not heard a bad thing about fixation so if I ever need a repair or service I'm going straight to them.

FWIW as you're in Essex, Miles is at West Malling, close by the junction of the M26 and the M20 in Kent if you're near the Dartford Crossing and didn't want to post your camera.
 
I used Lehmanns on my last repair (using LC as intermediary), needed a new iris, slight problem on return, it wouldn't focus in the macro range, took the lens back and sorted that out at no extra cost. £800 sound over the top
