What are the best settings to use for filming a proposal?

Camera - 5D Markiii with 70-200mm EF lens

Shoot is in an open area of a park and the weather will be overcast but bright (filming done secretly from afar)

Any advice would be massively appreciated! (I am last minute jumping in to help and only know basics)

maybe this will help? your question is a bit ambiguous. Are you filming ie video, or taking photos ie stills? filming could mean either

If you know exactly where they are going to stand go there first, take a practice photo if ok then set and lock your camera off for that amount of light , so if you are in a hidden in shade your camera won't reset for that shaded position. Give it a couple of tries well beforehand and check the reults. Hopefully then the photo won't get over/under exposed. If you intend to move you position or doing videos during the shoot then this may not apply. You don't say which

The most basic way to shoot with a 5DIII would be to put the camera in to Tv mode with your shutter speed x2 your frame rate (so 1/50th) and let the camera do the leg work with the aperture. Adjust your ISO so that you have a comfortable safety margin.

In preference mount the camera and lens on a tripod for stability, or at the very least a monopod. There's nothing worse than camera footage that jumps all over the place unless you are shooting the Blair Witch Project.
