Help,I need some advice on what settings would work best on my camera to take some good photographs inside our local village hall.I need to take some clear pictures of our Seniors 60th event but I have always found that the pictures I take in the hall to be too dark, even after some tweaking with Paint Shop Pro. My camera is a Canon PowerShot S3IS.The hall is lit by a few windows positioned high on the brick walls and strip lighting on the ceiling. Photographs are taken mid afternoon.I am a novice on the technical aspects of photography (but computing is easy) but I am striving to learn more from some books I have bought. I would be grateful for a few settings to get me started.Thankyou Georgina

What sort of things are you looking at shooting - people dancing? displays of things? What sort of depth of field do you need to be in focus?
What sort of lighting will be in the hall when you are shooting - is it a day or evening event?

Boost the ISO upwards to get away with less light, aperture wide as possible ~(ie low numbers). white balance to flourescent or custom (mix of tubes and flash may need custom wb or tweaking in computer)

Many thanks I will try to make the changes to my camera to get some clearer shots. The pictures taken will be of people sitting at tables, in the afternoon, with strip lighting and side lights on.
