Camera suggestions

HI there iv currently got a cannon EOS 1000D and I'm thinking of changing to a Nikon wondering what would be the best model?
Im an amature photographer and tend to stick to portraits and also do weddings here and there!
Would appreciate any advice

Why are you making the transition out of interest?

If you're used to how your Canon works, and want a newer body why not look at another Canon, the last thing you want is to be mid-wedding with the shot that the bride and groom will love wondering how to change exposure compensation, or focus point or whatever.
