Can a lens backfocus only with one camera?

My 35mm 1.8 seems to backfocus severely on my a580, but it's bang on with my a77 (without any focus adjustment applied). I did the usual focus chart tests and all my other lenses (including 50mm 1.7) are spot on with both cameras so it's definitely not a camera issue. Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

I had a Canon 50 f1.8 that was bang on with 2 bodies and was back focussing with 1 other. It was so far out I couldn't adjust it enough on the 7D it had a problem with. It worked fine on a 5D2, which had MFA, and a 550D which didn't have MFA. In the end I got a Canon 50 f1.4 which has been bang on with my 5D3 and a different 7D.
 
It's a common misconception that lenses back focus. It's the camera-lens combination that back focuses. When you consider the very tight tolerances needed to get a camera-lens combo to focus bang-on, then there will always be some situations where either is slighly off and the focus needs adjusting. Most of the time, depth of field takes care of the slight discrepencies.
