You can replace the HDD, i did it on my HD box to put a 1TB in there. Do a quick google for upgrade sky + Harddrive and you'll see that its very common. There is specific software to copy all your files across so you dont lose anything. I think all the functionality like the EPG is in the box.

Id imagine it would show an error message and refuse to work or just fail on pvr functions, I suppose you';l find out when you unplug the hard drive!

I would have thought you could pickup an Ebay 2nd sky box for about the same price as a hard drive (less the hassle of fitting it etc).

I can't see it working without a HD as how would live-view work etc? I'm sure there'd be a confliction of some sort.

You can pick up the current style regular Sky boxes at carboot sales for around £3, that's what I paid for mine, complete with remote

Remember though, if you get a new box, you have to phone up sky and get them to link it to your viewing card.

(it actually blew into the box :cuckoo:)

There is nothing wrong with cooling that blows into the box. The air has to go somewhere so the cool air coming in warms up and escapes through vents taking heat with it. If the fan blew out then cool are gets sucked into the vents either way it is just a transfer of heat.
