My parents are taking a trip to Sydney and don't want to take my gear  so they are looking for a good compact or bridge camera. Suggestions welcome

i know its a bit out of the budget, but the panasonic lumix fz28 with leica lens is a cracking bridge camera. The zoom is an awesome 18x, even the digital zoom produces printable results upto 36x. I picked mine up for £200 of pixmania.

i agree, the camera is a beauty i wanted to get one myself but i took the plunge and bought an slr.

I was in Sydney a few months ago and I only had my 350d and IXUS 75. I really regretted not have the versatility of something like the Lumix so I bought it the day after I got back!

Maybe you can get a cheap fuji finepix s9500 on ebay? Its a great bridge camera. Even got a hotshoe. 9 Mega Pixels and it costs around £80 second hand.

Cheers guys i will have a wee look. The £200 one is not out of budget it's just that i wasn't sure how much they cost. I might say that to them and see what they fancy although i think they're daft not taking my camera to be honest. Save them a few bob.

I have a IXUS 90, its pretty point & shoot, but you can pick them up for just over £100. Which makes it a bargin to me.
