can anyone recommend me a Nikon fit lens for my D60 please ?

Everything needs to be kept in perspective!

Sure, the 18-70 AF-S doesn't stand a chance against the 24-70 AF-S; however, at £200 vs. £1,200 there are times when going with the cheaper makes more sense; also, the weight (or lack of it) has its' advantages.

I tend to avoid buying bodies in a kit format, unless absolutely unavoidable, or where the kit lens is something I'd like to have!

I bought this lens when I first moved into dSLR (2004) and bought myself a couple of D70. At the time I was mainly a Minolta SLR user, as I have been since 1979.

Eventually, I sold this lens in 2008, having used it happily for these years. The day after I sold it I realised what a stupid mistake I'd done. I went back to the store and bought it back.

Regretfully, it broke on me in 2009 and that's when I realised its' days were over. The cost of repair would be more than having to buy a used one! So, now it sits in my collection of "retired" gadgets.

If you are happy with the focal length range you have at the moment then the 17-55 is only just over your budget. I picked up one from a fellow TP'er for my Dad, it cost £550 inc RMSD but I could have saved £30 if I was close enough to pick it up. Just have a good search for second hand ones and be patient.

One thing I would note is the 17-55's weight, I tried it on my D90 and it is nicely balanced but it may be a bit front heavy on the D60.

Another I would suggest is the 70-300mm VR. I am currently looking at this for my next lens and it gets some great reviews. Or, if you want a faster lens the old non macro version of the Sigma 70-200 is another popular choice.

Or the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 if you like landscape/city stuff. All 3 of the above well within your £500 budget.

Oh the choices :runaway:
