Can anyone translate japanese to english?

I'm considering purchasing an NEX-3 to supplement my Canon 40D and GF1. I've found a used camera locally but it's failing to start due to an unknown error. It looks like the language has been changed to Japanese by someone but is anybody able to identify the error? There is no lens attached so I guess that may be the issue but would the standard menu still be displayed without a lens attached?

The details I've been given are;

"When you switch on the camera the CCD flicks up (takes the dust off) and then the error message comes up on the screen. No buttons seem to work as there is an error message."

Before I commit to buying a paperweight, can anybody help translate this or have experience of a similar error? I'm guessing it's not mid-firmware upgrade because I believe that would cause a blank screen.

Thanks for that. I didn't know how to enter Japanese symbols into Google translate!

Looks like a common issue with the NEX's caused by a selection of issues ranging from stuck shutter, faulty contacts, flat internal battery or firmware...hmm, should I risk it?
