Can I connect up two monitors??

My Dell desktop has an Nvidia 7300 graphics card with a VGA output (which is feeding the monitor). It also has a DVI output. This is also connected to the monitor , but when disconnected makes no difference to what is happening screenwise.

My question is this,
1. can I make the DVI the output instead of the VGA

2. presuming this is possible, Can I then connect a second monitor (which has VGA only) to the vga socket and run two monitors together?

hope this makes sense to anyone who understands these computer thingy's

Well, plug the dvi cable into the one with the dvi port, plug the vga into the other and bobs you uncle really

You will then have to go into display properties (or use the nvidia utility if you have it installed) to configure the 2 monitors, resolution, which you want as master etc.

Have a look at Ultramon , it's a software application that helps you manage what is being displayed on each monitor :)
 
You can also get a DVI to HD connector cable for around £20

i've got my PC hooked up to my 32" LCD screen as a 2nd screen.

Get yourself a cordless mouse & keyboard, and hey presto, a nice big screen for editing photos from the comfort of your armchair!!
