Can I convert a standard tripod into a quick release?

I have a cheap but nice and easy to get on with tripod but would like to convert it to quick release, I can't replace the head its part and parcel, is there such a thing as an adapter that screws i to the standard mount but has a removable plate that can stay on my camera?

Its mainly used with my Mamiya RB67 just to add.

I have one (or maybe two) that I use on a mini Cullmann tripod and it works well.
Should be able to pick one up SH for about a tenner or so.

I am not to sure about that one as it looks like you have to put a screw though it into the head of the tripod and I would guess the screw is fixed in your tripod head.

This one appears to have a tapped hole in it so it will screw on to your current tripod head screw

Unless you can take out the mounting screw from your tripod (doubtful) this will not fit as the screw has to go DOWN from the fitting.
You will need one that screws ON to your existing fitting.
 
On that one you can clearly see the screw thread you need to attach it to your current tripod head.

looking realy to keep the cost down, I do like that type of clamp but cannot find a budget version, my tripod only cost me £5

unless you grabbed a bargin then something more stout would be a better investment, or just grabbing a cheapy off 7dayshop
