Can I use old Nikon lenses?

I am considering a Nikon D300. Would it be possible to use nikors from the 1980's? I am thinking of a 35mm f2 and an 85 f1.4 - manual focus.

yes, they'll work fine.

Just avoid the really old pre-AI lenses.

You can use virtually all AI, AIS, AF, AF-I, AF-D, and AF-S lenses.

You will just have to manually focus any pre AF lenses. There are settings in the menu which allow you to set the max aperture etc and then the display will be right in the view finder.

35mm f/2 lens is a cracker. Very sharp wide open.
