I would suggest going on the angle of the wings, the zig zag wing veins & hairy ass,
that its a cluster-fly, the colour is a little off though. It depends
on how heavy the processing was, wadda you say Alby?

But I do know what cluster flies look like ( but not in close up)
As I kill hundreds and thousands of the little buggers
over the late autumn and early spring months
I agree that one is not really that hairy plus the back is not brown enough hence the comment about "processing"
Maybe it just had a shave for the camera :shrug:
I must say with the unknown fly in #2 the detail on the wings is really good.
