i was asked to photograph portraits of my baby brother and sister to put up on the wall. could this help me launch a photography career (i know im only 15 lol:geek:) could this lead to having friends photographs taken and so on, and i could make a bit of cash from it, even if it was only £5 a photo.

No harm in trying if you want to get a bit of extra pocket money! Not sure if it would launch your career though, but its a good way to build up a portfolio and then if you are serious about photography when it comes time to leave school/go to university/college then you will have something to show...

lol thats what i meant portfolio. but it would be good as i was making a few quid a week of ebay but i would much rather does this. just got to get some experience. if you have any tips for my lighting studio please post in my other thread called DIY studio in talk lighting.

Sounds like a good way to do it.

My advice: Shoot for free, take a markup on the prints.

Anywhere that you're taking photos is good experience, no doubt.

Anywhere you're taking pictures of a living subject is better experience, indeed.

Anywhere you're taking pictures of anything that you've been asked/assigned to do, all the better.

I reckon you should try and get a wedding ASAP. Great experience to be had, just charge a nominal Fee, £750 or so, and as long as you have a 50mm and a 4gig card, you will be fine! :)

Gary.
