Can you help me calibrate lenses (Micro Focal Adjustment) on Canon 7D please?

Hi,

I am new here. Hope someone can assist me with MFA on my Canon 7D please? Pics are not that sharp on my Tamron 17-50 non-VC lens. I have tried reading about it but it needs a tripod and lens adjustment stuff that I do not own, and I am fairly new to photography as well so I would prefer if someone can guide me or maybe perform this for me for a charge, if I bring my camera and lens to your studio?

Is FoCal "worth it?" Well, not really since it can be done for free... One of the best methods I have seen is the Moire method detailed here.

For the 7D Focal is completely automatic which may make it worth it to you.

Lens AFMA is a finicky thing...it's usually different at opposite ends of a zoom lens, and it's different for different working distances. Personally I think it really only makes sense for a lens that is used in a "standard" manner...i.e. a prime used for portraits.
 
Most AF problems turn out to be user error, often made worse by testing incorrectly.

First thing to do is find out if you have got a camera/lens problem, and a test like this is very simple and reliable. Camera must be square to the box, focus on that with centre point at a typical shooting distance, then see on the rule where the sharpest point actually is. Then adjust as necessary.

In which case, you may as well enter any random number. To do a MICRO focus adjustment means you'll be making small changes (yup, the clue is in the name). These changes are smaller than the variation you'll get by moving the camera - unless you fix it in position with a tripod.
