For those not in the know, the EOS RT was an unusual oddity.. it had a semi-silvered (pellicle) mirror fixed in place. Most of the light gathered by the lens went through the mirror on to the film, with a smaller proportion being reflected up on to the focusing screen.

The advantages included a (for the time) very rapid frame-rate and none of the vibration associated with a moving mirror. The disadvantages of the design were effective loss of film speed, a dim viewfinder image, and the need to keep the mirror spotlessly clean, as any dust/dirt would affect the recorded image (sound familiar?? ;) )

There can't be that many RT's around, and I'm sure you'd have no trouble finding a buyer.. but I'd consider getting the mirror professionally cleaned before putting the camera up for sale.

That's a real find! My first thought was buy it! But I'm not a collector, and it is really a collector's item now.

I'm amazed that they only fetch £70 or so, but a minter would surely go for more. Collectors love original boxes and manuals too. What have you actually got, what sort of condition?

Tell us more about the Yashicas too. Pics?

guys, no trading outside classifieds :)

Had a EOS 650, the first of the EOSs, and it was built like a tank - sold it the other month for something silly like a £20. Anyway, the RT was always the crazy one that you lusted after because of that pellicle mirror for action stuff. I've seen them going on dealers website for £100 plus but probably they really only appeal to collectors and 35mm afficionados these days.
