Evening all

Now a certain online shop has closed im kind lookin for the next best thing

Looking for a flash for my Cannon 1000d

Can anyone send me in the right direction or suggested where is best to get kit from ??

If you can leave with a manual flash setup, Yongnuo 560 II is an excellent choice. ;)

And if you can't (live with manual flash setup) the Yongnuo 568EX is a good choice for the money too

Cameraworld are excellent for service both online and in person in the shops.

If going for a canon flash then the 430 ex 11 is a very good flash gun, budget wise have a look at the Nissin Di 622, cracking flash gun that will also double as a slave should you decide to get another flash later.

I had a Nissin Di622 MkI that was a great flash on a 550D and a 7D. Unfortunately, when I got a 60D and a 650D the MkI was incompatible without a firmware update and I couldn't find a local shop to do it (you can't update it yourself). The MkI would be OK with the 1000D I think, but you might be better off getting the MkII for future proofing.

I've now got a 580EX II and a couple of Nissin Di866's that are fantastic, but aren't cheap even second hand. I'd definitely recommend going for a TTL flash to start with and go for the best you can afford. The 430EX II would be another highly recommended flash, they are similar in power and functions to the Nissin Di622. I really like the compatibility of the 580EX II, and use it most often, but the Nissin Di866 has some great features and is very easy to use.
