Cannon Lens Error

I brought my mum a Cannon Ixus 115HS as a christmas prsent and on her second time of using it the camera came up with a Lens Error message and shut down automatically. I have had a look online to see if there is any way I can fix this but could not really find any info other that about an E18 Error. Does anyone have any ideas if I can fix this or am I going to have to face the problem of dealing with Cannon customer care and send it back?

If you got it for Chritmas take it back to the shop you got it from and either ask for a replacement or your money back.
