Well, as the title suggests I need some help picking one of the two lenses, Canon's superb 10-22mm or Tokina's apparently-also-superb 11-16mm.
I intend to hire one of them for a couple of weeks' holiday in Devon, to use for the usual UWA stuff where the normal lenses fall short. I also really want to do more star & milky way photography at night. This is where my decision becomes a bit trickier. If I wasn't worried about the star stuff, the Canon would win hands-down for the extra range and the fact I know it's so good, having owned one a few years ago. (Sold because it wasn't getting enough use!)
Considering it is f2.8 throughout, with the Canon being f3.5-4.5, will the slightly wider aperture of the 11-16mm really make that much of a difference for the stars?
If it's any help, existing kit for me is:
Canon 7D
Tamron 17-50mm f2.8
Canon 50mm f1.4
Canon 70-200 f4L
(Mum will probably like to use it as well, she has a 400D with 18-55mm kit lens)
