On the back of someone on here recommending me to get this lens, I did... and well - im chuffed to bits with it!!

Got it for an absolute bargain aswell!!

This lens is as sharp, if not sharper, than my 70-200 F4L IS

Focusing is instant, like literally instant.

Also the lens looks superb on the camera, with its enormous amount of glass!

Would totally recommend this lens for anyone who is "on the fence" about it.

Tia a nice lens but purple fringing wide-open was so bad I took it back and got the 135 f2 instead.
 
It's a sweet lens :)

I think purple finging is a fact of life with a lot of fast primes, even some L-series - 35L 1.4 I tried recently was pretty bad; 85 1.8 is another sufferer. But it's only on very bright/blown transitions to dark.

Looks like you might have a bit on your dad's guitar, but got away with it on the bottom parrot shot. Sorry, you're going to be looking for it now!
 
I am looking at this lens for taking pics of my daughters gymnastics, did you buy it new, I am always after a bargain, or was it second hand. Am also considering the 85mm 1.8, but if a bargain is available it could swing it.

Thanks, I did think it was a second hard bargain, as the new prices seem to be around the same at all retailers.
