Canon 135 f2 or 100 f2.8LIS?

Looking at investing in a medium telephoto prime for portraits primarily. I already have an 85mm & 24-105 f4 on a 70D.

I was considering the 135 f2 until someone suggested the 100 f2.8 L IS as an option. I'd discounted it initially as it was in the same range as my zoom. However, the Macro might be handy!

Has anyone used either or both & able to offer some constructive advice?

I have both, both have their uses, the 135 wide open is absolutely delightful to shoot with, its also known as one of canons best L series lenses and its not exactly expensive.

The 100mm is another great lens, super sharp ( sometimes too sharp, on portraits ) but it does do macro very well and the IS is brilliant.

The only thing is the 100 doesn't shoot f2 and the 135 wont do macro, thats why I have both.

Its a hard choice but if I had to chose again from the start Id get the 135 first again, then the 100mm.

I have both too and would agree with everything above :)
 
That's really helpful, thank you both. I'm not really a Macro shooter so I'll be eyeing up some used 135's :)
 
You can thank me after you buy one, there was one in the classifieds on here just the other day :)
 
you can add extension tubes to the 135 to make it a macro lens of sorts

but you can't make the 100L into an f2 lens!
