Yes
I have just taken delivery of my lens and notice that when i shake it slightly there is some movement internally, Is this common as i don't recall my 17-40 doing that, It's not a terrible rattle but there is def some movement inside. Please put my mind at rest.

Cheers Bob, Luckily i got it from Warehouse Express so can pop in and replace it. Funnily enough when i got the package the top lid on the box wouldn't close properly so i wonder if this was returned from a previous customer and they just chucked it back into circulation.

Both my 100 macro and 85/1.8 have things 'rattling' around inside, dont think there's anything amiss as they take very high IQ shots.

If I shake mine side to side it makes a very dull softened 'gobble gobble' Bit like a turkey.

Shake it the other way, forwards and backwards no noise.

Just keep listening to them thar voices, and stay away from the light.

I have just checked mine and there is a soft clunky noise, nothing to worry about.

yea, mine does make the turkey noise as well!! never noticed it before, nothing amiss I'm sure...

It's a brand new lens that cost over £1,000 - if in doubt, take it in!

Took it into WEX today and gave the other 16-35 they had a shake with the same result so my conclusion is that everything is fine. IQ is superb so think all i have to do now is stop shaking it. I also shook their 24-70 with the same result and a 28-105 and they all made some noise when gently rocked side to side so happy with my shake tests. :bonk: I'm now gonna take it to the footie field and give it the kick it around for 90 minutes test :bat:

Well, if its new, you got a year to sort it :D
