Hi,

Wondering what people's thoughts are on this, I think I was being a little over optimistic with the 17-40 on a cropped body. Possibly should have stuck to my original plan of the 10-22 or 10-20 to accompany my 24-105.

Have any if you used this combination with a degree of success? My main use for the wide angle is for graffiti/derelict building shots and probably the odd landscape. But, obviously using it on a cropped body has it's downsides. I was also thinking of investing in a 5dmk1 to try a budget footstep in to full frame and see how I like it.

On a crop body it's not really a UWA lens, just like the 24-105 isn't really a great std zoom, they're both a great pairing with a 5d classic. But I wouldn't buy either for a crop camera.

Hi,

I am very happy with the 24-105 on my 7d. I think I may go for the 5d classic though, to get an experience with it and then look at upgrading in future.

I only got to 17-40 as I found it locally at a great price, just wanted to see how it was.

I picked up a canon 10mm-22mm lens for my 70D it is excellent.:)

Im using a 10-22 on my 7D and love it, one of my most used lenses. Its good to hear you like the 24-105 on the 7D, thats my next upgrade.

I always felt the 17-40L was at its best on FF - I tried it as a std zoom on a crop and didn't like it - the 16-35mm f/2.8 worked better in this regard.
