Wandering if anyone could enlighten me on which one is better! As a general walk about! Really wanted the canon 15-85 but I've just blown half the money I had saved for it and really could do with a decent walkabout lens within the next 2 weeks!! Or should I go out and sell my arse so I can afford the 15-85!!!

I can't comment on the 28-135...
I've got the 18-135 as my walkabout lens... it was a cheapy-longer-than-my-18-55-lens that I bought with a new 7D.
I always thought the original kit lens performed well, and this is just as good... but with longer reach :D I've been pretty happy with it's behaviour.

these were taken with this lens (albeit I have shrunk them for the web :runaway: ):

We have the 28/135 (old design with IS?) and find it can be a bit hit and miss, its ok most of the time but every now and again on my wife's 50D it struggles to nail focus. IS doesnt sound like its doing anything (I have a 70/200 F4IS L which you can hear and see working) but I suppose it is, although we rarely seem to gain any benefit from it. 18-135 is Ef-s isnt it, so a much newer lens? 28-135 is showing its age but OK if you get a 2nd hand one cheap I suppose, its the one lens we have which we will probably get rid of soon.

Thanks all for advice but I've just managed to purchase a canon 15-85 for £350 which I think is money well spent!!
