i know its not the sacred noise free that so many folks expect nowadays:shake:

however here is a shot at iso800,
exposed 1 stop to the right...dragged back and brighteness adjusted....thats it.

is it really THAT bad? :thinking:

genuine question.......bearing in mind this was launched in 2001 I dont think its that bad....or am i wrong?

Nothing wrong with that a manual white balance wouldn't correct ;)
 
Looked at the full size and there's nowt wrong with it.

Just a shame about the colour of the nailvarnish, are you sure it suits you.

I love the pictures out of my 1d3 they have a completely different look to my 5d2

Personally, I think people do put too much emphasis on a camera being able to do high ISOs (3200/6400 etc) but whether they actually use it at those settings is a different matter. That shot looks fine. It's only when the ISO performance of the camera stops you getting shots that changes to more advanced kit need to be considered.

I run two D2x bodies and I read no end of reports about 400 being the ceiling. I regularly use 800 and third stops up to 1600 with careful exposure. Lightroom helps too. It's only now that the better technology is now easier to afford that I am willing to get rid of mine. That said, this week I've been shooting at those ISOs I've mentioned and even then I've been left wanting - been the darkest week I can remember for ages!!!!

I still stand by the ethos of getting the shot, even if it means suffering distracting noise. But if the technology is there and accessible then things need to be weighed up as to whether a change of kit is warranted....

I'd be interested in seeing 1600 from that 1D :)

1250 looks fine

3200 isn't as bad as some I've seen - it's more than useable and if it meant getting a shot then it's done the job. :)
 
Just looked at the full size 3200, other than sparkly blacks on the right hand side, a little noise ninja will cure anything thats wrong. If the background was busier you'd never know.
 
tbh i agree,

i dont use lr3 (yet) but after a bit of noise reduction i reckon they would be ok.

however the issue about naff battery life and the amazingly ****e screen are for another day (although i still love her)
