Canon 1d Mk111 worth a punt.

Theres a shed load of these going for under £400 so are they worth a punt as a "do it all" camera or spend a bit more for say a 5d Mk11?

The only problem with those is 10MP sensor. It's epic camera but once you need to print much bigger than A3 or your client requires bigger files you are a little stuck. One of my clients needs 12MP min for example.

That's the deciding factor I think.

It's not for me as I'm a 1dx user. A friend tried my camera and loved the speed of focusing and how well it's built. He wanted a "pro" type camera but couldn't stretch to a nice condition Mk4 and a 5d Mk2 was on his list. It would be for personal use so I think client files isn't an issue.

Depends what you want it for. I have a couple of mkiii and love them for sport evens(running etc) where smaller files are not an issue. I've printed in a3 with these and the quality is just fine. Built like a tank and will love forever...probably

Black fox on here uses one to good effect for wildlife.

I would take a mkIII against a 5d mkII all day long.

As others say it depends what your uses are, its down to pixels that will most likely be the deciding factor on this one and if you print etc.
