Canon 1D MKI

Hi everyone,

Im after a 1D but im curious about the ISO perfromance at the top end, so 800 and 1600. I know that the 1D produces really nice images and some people prefer it to the MKII but im unsure. What is the noise like compared to a 40D?

If someone could post a photo shot at ISO 1600 from a 1D that would be much appreciated.

I have a 1DMkII & a 40D and I don't notice any difference at high ISO in similar conditions.

And go to Panama Kings you can find a recent set from a gig i covered with a 1Dmk2 and a 40d. Pretty much 99% of my shots were at ISO1600 on both bodies.
_mg #### = 40d
LCL2#### = 1Dmk2

Most have had a slight bit of NR using neat image and a sharpen for web.


No idea how a 1D MK1 would compare???

I would reckon a 1D "classic" would be significantly worse. It uses an older CCD sensor and is getting long in the tooth.

I suspect the 1D mark I may be significantly worse at high ISO than the mark II.
From what I've seen of them they're capable of some stunning results from the CCD sensor used then, and they're not to be under estimated at all. But low light capability and battery life weren't exactly their strong points.
